The huge fish took a crane, 4 people, and 40 minutes to land, even with all that time to spare, the crew still couldn’t find 2 slices of bread big enough to make a decent sandwich. As luck would have it, one of the fishing party was Rafael Carrasco, a chef at the nearby Abama Golf and Spa Resort, where he works in the Kabuki Restaurant. There are no prizes for guessing where this tasty fish has ended up, let’s hope everyone is feeling hungry.

Conveniently placed in the heart of Costa Adeje, Puerto Colon is a thriving community where commerce, tourism and above all fun, come together. There’s something very soothing about a marina, and Puerto Colon is home not only to Tenerife Yacht Charters, but a whole range of specialist excursions, water sports and diving schools. If you want to sit back with a cold drink and watch the bustle of the day, there are plenty of cosey bars and restaurants that look out over the marina. Puerto Colon was bathed in sunshine as Tenerife Yacht Charters took a party of guests out on Flirtz II, the 74 foot Sunseeker motor yacht. From the welcoming glass of bubbly, it was luxury all the way as Flirtz II purred out into the Atlantic. With the sea breeze gently blowing, it was time for the curious to explore, and they weren’t dissapointed. Below decks, the 4 cabins just oozed style, en suite facilities, sound systems and plasma televisions helped to create that wow factor and the smooth ride made it hard to believe that we were skimming across the Atlantic.

The lower deck galley was primed with cold drinks and snacks, the leather upholstery and desert carpets gave it a homely feel, and it was all smiles from bough to stern as the sun worked its magic. on the upper deck there was plenty of room for sun worshipers, and another wetbar for good measure, what a way to see Tenerife.

Dolphins and whales played in the waves ahead and a smaller motor boat was lowered in the sea off the hydraulic rear ramp to follow in our wake. Mooring for lunch just off  La Caleta, the setting was serene and the company good. With much more to see, we pushed on to the west coast of Los Gigantes and beyond, and moored just off Masca. The towering cliffs were a great backdrop as swimmers took to the clear water, and youngsters played on an inflatable raft.

All too soon it was time to head back to Puerto Colon, as we eased into the marina, the cameras and memories were full of laughter and sunshine. This is the life, it’s good to know that now with Tenerife Yacht Charters, it’s easy and affordable for everyone to try a slice of quality living.

Saying that Nicola Gardiner loves Tenerife is an understatement, Tenerife Yacht Charters is her latest project , inspired by the beauty and sheer fun that has lured her back to Tenerife, after travelling Australia and working as marketing manager for a  major cosmetics company in the USA.

It’s a long way from Glasgow, but armed with a HND  in Business Management, and a degree in Public Relations, Media and Events, Nicola set up a diving school in Tenerife. Being the second highest qualified female instructor in the Canary Islands helped to make the school a success, adding boat charters to their services, Nicola even made time to run her own conference and events business from the school.

Going back to Glasgow to be PR manager for a radio station, and travelling to the far side of the globe, were wrapped around a second spell in Tenerife, this time as marketing manager for the biggest destination management company in Spain. Now Nicola is adding the launch of Tenerife Yacht Charters to her work running a large leisure and events company with a string of popular and lively bars and clubs.  To many that might sound like hard work but Nicola is loving the new challenge.
